Meet Our Teachers and Administrative Staff

Our staff is a unique group of individuals that make up an eclectic team that focuses on students first. Each instructor is well - versed in specific genres of dance that encourage students to explore dance as a means to self-awareness, creative expression, imagination and teamwork. Instructors will help students reach beyond their limits by working on skills to further their dance creativity, strength building, musicality, flexibility, memorization and confidence. Instructors will teach exercises and choreography based on preplanned curriculums to ensure the progression of each class.

Melissa Beverly

Robert Myers Jerry Catchings was born in Atlanta, Ga. where he began to pursue taking dance classes at the age of 20. As he continued to increase his enjoyment into the arts,he started consistently taking Jazz, Modern,African and Lyrical dance classes at Fiyankra Dance Studio, and Dance 101. In high school, Jerry was selected as a group- dance participant in the “1998 Atlanta Battle of the Bands”. It was not until 2002, where he began to explore his passion for dance to the next level. He definitely has a whole-hearted passion for the performing arts. Jerry has performed as a dancer, in hopes of touching peoples’ heart through the art of dance. With not many consecutive years of dance training, Jerry has ascended over and beyond the love for dance; it’s a strong part of his being. Now he has a stern motto that he has committed himself to live by in life…”There are people that watch things happen, and there are people that make things happen…Which one are you?”

Samara Rowland Samara is a graduate of Nutmeg Conservatory of the Art. Her training was guided by Eleanor D'Antourno, Alexi Tchenichova, Elena Tchenichova, and Brian Simmerson. In addition she studied with Milwaukee Ballet and Joffery. She has performed with the Cambridge Dance Theatre, East Central Ohio Ballet Theatre, and the Nutmeg Conservatory and has danced professionaly with Atlanta Festival Ballet. Samara has danced roles in the Nutcracker, Dracula, Paquita, Don Quixote, Giselle, and Carmina Burana.

About Us

M³Power is a incorporated non-profit professional performing arts dance theatre and school established on March 05, 2010. Founded by two artistic visionaries with the same objective to begin a professional ensemble and provide exemplary dance training, M³Power was formed through the art of dance. Although young to the performing arts industry, M³Power , Inc. has a combined 25 years of experience in professional technique and training in; Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Liturgical, Lyrical, African and Afro-Caribbean dance. Since our development we have performed throughout our community working with local churches and implementing after-school dance programs in one private school and several elementary and middle public schools throughout the Metro - Atlanta area as well as worked with the High School of the DeKalb School Arts for the Black History Program in February 2011. The founders focus is to bring about a well diverse collection of work that would inspire dancers and enrich the arts.Our Mission: Is to provide a home base for aspiring dancers of all ages and skill levels to collectively project their love for the art of dance. Dancers will be given a platform that will expose them to diverse genres of dance, freely projecting their artistic creation and perform in professional settings throughout their communities. Trina M. Purdy-Gilbert

is one of M³Power's Co-Founders and is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, better known as the city of brotherly love. She began training in Ballet, Modern, Jazz and African at the early age of five years old with La` Cher Tari Dance School under the direction of Cheryl Gaines-Jenkins for a number of years where she mainly performed at the Philadelphia Academy of Music home to the Philadelphia Orchestra. She continued her studies of dance at the High School of Creative and Performing Arts. After graduating high school she continued dancing professionally until taking a brief hiatus to further advance her education at Devry University of Georgia for a major in Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management. In 2004 she began dancing again later becoming a teacher and director of the Teen Praise Dance Ministry at Antioch Lithonia Missionary Baptist Church. In 2008 she was led to a dance group known as A David Dance Company where she is now a dance member of the senior company and is an instructor of ballet, modern jazz, and liturgical.

Shayla M. Greenaway

Is one of the Co-Founders of M³Power. Originally from St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Shayla started dancing at the age of 4 with the Caribbean Dance Company under the instruction of Montgomery Thompson. When she turned 13, she was invited to join the professional touring company of Caribbean Dance and had the opportunity to tour both nationally and internationally. In 1997 Shayla moved to Atlanta, GA to attend Georgia State University where she completed her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. At Georgia State, she danced and choreographed for the Caribbean Student Associations Dance Ensemble. Her work there led the ensemble to be asked to perform throughout the community. After completing college and taking a hiatus from dancing, Shaylas passion and desire for dance led her to search for a dance company that she could call home. In 2008, that search led her to A David Dance Company where she joined the senior company and was brought on board as a instructor. Shayla is trained in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, african, and afro-caribbean dance.

Class Information

Our classes will encourage students to explore dance as a means to self-awareness, creative ex-pression, imagination and teamwork. Students will work on skills to further their dance creativity, strength building, musicality, flexibility, memorization and confidence. Each class will incorporate a balance of structured exercises and choreography as well as creative free dancing in which students will have a chance to improv and choreograph their own dance and movement. Students will also learn how to dance and interact with partners, space, and movement patterns. Classes will be divided and structured in such a way that it provides a nurturing environment for the recreational dancers or a more competitive and challenging environment for those dancers seeking a career.

M³Power, Inc. dance company provides a platform for emerging dancers who desire to dance and choreograph at a professional level. M³Powers philosophy is to allow our members the opportunity to freely project their artistic abilities. Our focus is to produce a well diverse collection of work that would inspire dancers and enrich the arts.

Entry into the company is either by audition, or invitation based on exceptional performance in class. The company will perform at least one two hour performance a year in the Metro Atlanta area. Members ages range from13 to Adult and are focused on development, mentoring, and exposing their talents throughout our community and beyond.

After School main

Our After School Dance Programis implemented as a part of your schools weekly after school care program. The basics of the dance curriculum include Ballet foundations, beginning Modern and Jazz dance techniques, Hip Hop and AfroCaribbean dance. The class will encourage students to explore dance as a means to self-awareness, creative expression, imagination and teamwork. Each class will incorporate a balance of structured exercises and choreography as well as creative free dancing in which students will have a chance to improv and choreograph their own dance and movement. We believe dance is a great way to let children use their, energy, relieve stress, and reduce the possibility of childhood obesity.
